Life is Good - Faith is Ready to Start Kindergarten!!

I can't believe I've let almost a year go by without posting any updates! The good news is that life has been vey typical, Faith and Anthony are both growing up fast and we haven't had any big medical things going on to post about. We were hoping to have Faith's 2nd jaw distraction this summer, but due to insurance issues (Faith was only on Medicaid for the last year while I was consulting) we couldn't get it scheduled in time. Now I have just started a new job and while that is great from the insurance perspective, it means I need to work for awhile before we can plan the time off for the surgery. So, we are targeting next summer to head back to Cincinnati for JD#2. There is a chance this surgery could result in Faith's trach being removed, but we don't want to get our hopes up too high in case it's just not enough airway improvement.

Faith is going to start Kindergarten this week! Can't believe it's here already. She will be riding a school bus too! She will be going to the same school she went to for pre-school, Summitview Elementary as they are the center based program here in Douglas County for kids that are Deaf or Hard of Hearing (DHH). Faith will be in a mainstream kindergarten class in the mornings and then she will stay in the afternoons for a DHH program for just 7 kids from the 3 Kindy classes. They will focus on providing her services during that time; speech is what she needs the most focus on.

Anthony will be starting 2nd grade already and Dana will be a Junior in High School this year. Time just keeps flying by.

I am definitely planning to capture Faith's first school bus ride on Thursday and post it. Stay tuned!
